Bangladesh wants to make amends with Sri Lanka.
At the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong on May 19, 2022, AFP, Bangladeshi cricket players celebrate the removal of Sri Lankan skipper Dimuth Karunaratne on the last day of the first Test cricket match between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

When Bangladesh plays Sri Lanka in the first two matches of the Test series tomorrow at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, they intend to carry on their recent upward trend in the lengthier format. At 10:00 am, the game begins.

Both teams had already finished playing white ball cricket, with Bangladesh winning the ODI series and Sri Lanka winning the T20 series by identical scores.

Bangladesh hasn't lost a series since their 2-0 loss to India in 2022, and they will be eager to continue that trend in their first Test series in 2024. Bangladesh played every series at home in the previous year, winning a single Test match series against Afghanistan and Ireland and drawing a two-match series against formidable New Zealand.

Shanto filled in as captain when Bangladesh defeated New Zealand in their first Test at home last year because Shakib Al Hasan chose not to play.

Shanto's goal for Test cricket is to win as many games at home while competing head-to-head on foreign soil, having been handed the captaincy in all three forms on a regular basis.

Bangladesh has never won a Test match against the Lankans at home, thus it is certain that they would give it their all to win the match.

Mahmudullah had already withdrawn from Test cricket, and Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal were not present. However, Mushfiqur Rahim was expected to use his expertise in crucial situations, much as he did in the ODI series, to help Bangladesh win 2-1.

Naturally, Towhid Hridoy took Mushfiqur Rahim's place in the squad after demonstrating his abilities in white-ball cricket match play. However, more experience is what Test cricket needs, not the youthful player's vitality. The goal is to observe how Hridoy filled up the gaps left by Mushfiqur Rahim's absence.

Nahid Rana is another new face for Bangladesh in the team. The young man is currently regarded as the nation's fastest runner. It's thought he may be
